Today, I choose to redeem my share reward—
The rich benefit of investment.
Outside, cold and windy showers
Come and go as they please,
While inside, I indulge in my reward:
Seated warmly in a red chair
With coffee and chips,
A burger already devoured,
Processing thoughts into words.
Deliberately designed to trigger new thoughts inside of you,
As you are drawn onward through
My sequence of words and lines,
Carefully arranged to evoke raw emotion—
A pleasant memory, a new idea,
Or perhaps a stirring of frustration.
This inner friction mirrors the wintry blast outside,
Yet here I sit, safely sheltered by glass.
Now, there is a reward.
Do you see?
Investment is essential if one wishes to reap a reward.
Do you agree?
Think deeply about it.
Investment and reward create the perfect balance in life;
One without the other simply cannot exist.
You may think you disagree,
But I challenge you to give it your deepest thoughts.
From the cradle to the grave,
Whether royal or a slave,
Each of us is made to experience investment and reward.
It is an absolute sequence of fact,
No matter how you choose to act:
A life without investment holds no attraction.
Either way, to invest is to be truly blessed,
For it is according to action that we receive our just reward—
Be it for all the good or the bad that has gone before.
And if you are smart,
It will pay you a magnificent reward
To invest your unique talents and skills
Into a conscious sequence of events
Which will lead to the ultimate reward:
Life. L-I-F-E.
Living is far more than inhaling air just to keep the body going.
It takes profound faith to risk the unknown of each new day,
To invest wholeheartedly in a future reward
Which you may not yet see, feel, or touch.
But know this much:
When one refuses to risk security over uncertainty,
The breath of true life is already expired,
Leaving behind a mere existence
Instead of the vibrant fruits of investment.
Behind the Glass: A note from Stephen
This piece was captured from the safety of a red chair on a biting, unpredictable winter’s day. When I write, “Now there’s a reward. Do you see?”, it is a deliberate double meaning.
I am inviting you to look through the window with me, but I am also reflecting on the physical glass itself. Centuries ago, artisans and innovators went through the immense frustration, heat, and trial of inventing glass. Today, their historic investment becomes my effortless reward—a shield holding the wild Kiwi weather at bay while I sit in comfort, processing thoughts into words.
